Brian Eno: “Foreverandevernomore” (Review & Stream)

First things first: Brian Eno sings on almost every track on the album – which the ambient master has rarely done in decades. It’s no longer the droning, slightly crooked vocals of the early solo albums. One thinks more of souled whales or monks from the Himalayas who know how to breathe, with great calm and high awareness. The theme of “Foreverandevernomore” is the climate catastrophe: “These are not propaganda songs that tell you what to believe and how to behave,” the artist writes about his latest work. “Instead, they are explorations of my own feelings. The hope is that they invite you, the listener, to share these experiences and explorations.”

And the ten tracks sound just as ethereal. Like floating above the abyss, which – as always with Eno – sounds very, very pleasant. Featuring Peter Chilvers, Jon Hopkins, Clodagh Simonds, Brother Roger and other members of the Eno family. The warning of the end of the world thus turns into a delicate wind chime.
