Ajax striker Brian Brobbey will be out for the next six weeks. He suffered a tear in the inner tube of his knee just before making 0-1 against PSV, but played on character for a few minutes.
That reports The Telegraph. Brobbey headed in the opening goal on Sunday, following a pass from Dusan Tadic. He was then immediately substituted.
The attacker came back to Ajax on a rental basis in the winter. His return became a dream scenario last week when he scored two of the three goals against FC Utrecht. His failure is therefore a damper for coach Erik ten Hag.
Brobbey replaces Sebastian Haller who plays with Ivory Coast in the Africa Cup. According to the newspaper, the question is whether he will have Brobbey on February 6, when the competition resumes with a home game against Heracles Almelo. The final of the Africa Cup will also be played that day, but Ivory Coast may have been eliminated earlier.
