FRANKFURT (Dow Jones)–The chemicals trader Brenntag has strengthened its presence in North America with the takeover of OWI Chlor Alkali. According to the DAX group, the takeover strengthens its own local and regional distribution network and significantly expands the capacities of the terminals in North America. OWI Chlor Alkali is headquartered in Northbrook, Illinois. The product portfolio includes caustic soda, potassium hydroxide, methanol, sulfuric acid and glycols. In 2022, OWI Chlor Alkali had sales of $279.7 million. Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.
