Bredene wants Beaufort to be postponed: “saving of 40,000 euros”
Mayor Steve Vandenberghe makes this appeal because he wants to save. Beaufort took place last year, the next edition is normally for 2024.
Coastal municipalities pay organizer Westtoer to participate. However, due to the high energy prices and inflation, Bredene does not see that for the time being. Tomorrow the mayor will consult with the other coastal mayors to postpone Beaufort.
“As a local government, we are asking to put the project on hold for a few years. For us, that would be a saving of more than 40,000 euros. And those are savings that we have to make to get our budget around and to ensure that our energy bills are paid and that the more expensive wages can be paid. And that we get by with everything. We will no longer ask the residents more.”
