Breakthrough stadium file Cercle Brugge in the making
“We have had a constructive dialogue with three of the four parties that objected to the plans,” the city said. “They are now withdrawing their appeal. Only the fourth party (Groen vzw Brugge) has not yet reached an agreement”
“Cercle Brugge can make a quick restart”
“Over the past period, the City of Bruges – in consultation with Minister Zuhal Demir – has entered into a constructive dialogue with the parties that have lodged an appeal,” the city said in a statement.
“The City came to a cooperation agreement with three of the four parties (Ghelamco, Novus and Bremhove).
The agreement is based on a master plan for the ‘business’ and ‘urban activities’ zones for the Blankenbergse Steenweg. The master plan provides for a coordinated and logical connection of both ‘zones’ (road infrastructure, shared parking …).
All the necessary infrastructure for Cercle Brugge is thus provided in one movement in the ‘urban activities’ zone. In this way, Cercle Brugge can, if necessary, make a quick restart in the file surrounding the construction of a new stadium.
“Regret the attitude of Groen vzw”
Finally, the master plan also foresees far-reaching concessions in the field of nature conservation and nature enhancement to Groen vzw Brugge, the fourth party to appeal.
Despite, for example, the realization of a public park of approximately 12 hectares and far-reaching measures in the field of sustainability, Groen vzw Brugge wants to wait for the judgment of the Council of State before sitting around the table.
The City and the other parties regret this attitude, which could potentially delay the file for years again,” the City said.
