In the second division club Hannover 96, an end to the license-endangering dispute is emerging about the occupation of the managing director post. Sports director Marcus Mann is faced with promotion – also with the support of the mother club.
The 40-year-old could sign the license application for the coming season in the 2nd Bundesliga or the Bundesliga in good time until the deadline on March 17. This was confirmed by the top of the club on Thursday after the “Bild” newspaper and the “Hannoversche Allgemeine” had previously reported.
The Mother Association Hannover 96 EV supported “the order of Marcus Mann for one of two joint managing directors”, it said in a message. The above all “to secure the signing and application of the license for the 2025/26 season”.
Child: “Marcus man is not negotiable”
Before that, after the recent dispute, the long-time club boss Martin Kind was optimistic that I could get an agreement on the question: “I think everyone has recognized the seriousness of the situation. The tendency is solution-oriented,” he said, but once again emphasized the point of view of the capital on the complicated 96 structure: “Marcus man is not negotiable.”
“It can’t be that we don’t get a license. That would be adventurous.”

License application must be at the DFL until March 17th
The problem that is now about a solution: by March 17, the license documents must be submitted to the German Football League (DFL) – but a decisive signature by a managing director is missing. This post has been vacant for eight months in the outsourced professional football company of the second division soccer team.
At the Lower Saxony, the leadership of the Hannover 96 EV and the shareholders of the outsourced professional football area Hannover 96 GmbH & Co. KGAA have been disputed for years. Since the long-standing professional managing director child was removed last year, both sides have not been able to agree on one successor.
Higher Regional Court deals with the case
So far, the EV leadership had not wanted to agree to the transport of men, on the other hand, the capital side did not support the sole appeal of a financial manager.
The child and the other donors have therefore also submitted an application for an emergency manager at the Hanover District Court in the past few days. This was rejected, whereupon child and the like took “complaint” at the Celle Higher Regional Court. According to information from the “Bild”, a decision should be made there in the course of Monday. It is probably no longer needed if the club puts the targeted plan into practice with a double solution in the management.
The association structure of Hannover 96.
It seems clear that there will be no enforcement report in front of the explosive Niedersachsen Sender against Eintracht Braunschweig on Sunday (1.30 p.m., at NDR.de), but the “Mega-Gau” (member of the supervisory board Hauke Jagau) is now off the table. Everything comes down to a call from man as a sports manager and a previously unknown financial manager at his side.
