The economic journalist Sofia Terrileposted pictures showing price growth since September 2022with an image of a combo of coffee and a croissant or toast on artisan bread: at that moment the price was 550 pesos. Until February 2023.
Then the tweet showed the same combo, but in November 2022. This time, the price of breakfast had grown to 660 pesos.
Later, the poster of the same promo was shown but in the month of last december. This time, coffee with croissants or country bread was sold to 740 pesos.
Finally, the tweet showed the current image, of February 2023. This time the same combo it was worth 830 pesos.
An inflationary acceleration was recently confirmed in the first month of the year, with a Consumer Price Index (CPI) that reached 6 percent. According to the consultant C&T Economic Advisors inflation advanced between 5.5 percent and 6.4 percent in the second month of the yearespecially in food and beverages. According to analysts, if the CPI were to reach 6.2 percent, official inflation would be around 101.7 percent nationwide. This would imply triple-digit inflation, a phenomenon that had not been seen in the Argentine economy since 1991.
