No one will have noticed by now that Disney has existed for 100 years. The House of Mouse has really done everything they can to celebrate this party with their latest animated film: ‘Wish’ as the icing on the cake.
Wish is the culmination of everything that made Disney great. The theme song of the logo contains the cracker Wish upon a star of Pinocchio . In the movie Wish they answer the question: what if you really make a wish to a star… and that star listens to you? The girl Asha experiences this in the kingdom of Rosas, where the wishes of the inhabitants are stored by a magician with dark intentions.
The animation is a beautiful combination of old-fashioned drawing style and computer animation with backgrounds of beautiful watercolor colors. The songs are not as memorable as Frozens Let it go or Encantos We don’t talk about Bruno , but are a great listen and provide some visual highlights. The best animation joke of the year goes to a bunch of breakdancing chickens. Hilarity of the highest order.
Tasty dish
Because the film is openly an ode to everything that came before, the film stands on the shoulders of giants, but Disney forgets about this Wish to give it its own identity.
We’ve seen it all before, and often better. But if you pick the right ingredients from the almost perfect recipes from Disney’s classic kitchen, you will be served a tasty dish anyway.
