24 hours in physiotherapy
Brazil’s superstar Neymar firmly believes in his comeback at the World Cup in Qatar, according to his teammate Marquinhos. “He’s very focused, he sleeps in physiotherapy and has treatment 24 hours a day,” said the Paris Saint-Germain defender on Sunday about the 30-year-old, who will miss the Brazilians’ next preliminary round match on Monday due to an ankle ligament injury (from 5 p.m. in the TM live ticker) against Switzerland will certainly miss.
“It shows how badly he wants to return. We don’t know when that will be, but we hope it will happen as soon as possible.” “Today is one of the most difficult moments in my career,” Neymar commented on his situation on Instagram on Friday evening, adding: “And that’s again at a World Cup”. It hurts him, “but I’m sure I’ll have the chance to come back.” He is the “son of the god of the impossible”.
Although national coach Tite has powerful alternatives on offense such as Antony (22) from Manchester United, Rodrygo (21) from Real Madrid, Gabriel Martinelli (21) or Gabriel Jesus (25) from Arsenal FC, midfielder Casemiro nevertheless underlined this at a press conference the importance of Neymar for the “Seleção”: “He is an exceptional player, one of the best in the world. We have more top players, but of course if you compare them to Neymar, it’s difficult to find a player at his level.”

Casemiro on hostilities against Neymar: “He didn’t deserve it”
The 70 million euro new signing from Manchester United also expressed a lack of understanding for the harsh hostilities that Neymar had to put up with due to his political stance and his reputation as the “Swallow King”, especially on social networks, but also in his home country. “It is a pity that there are people who wish bad things for others. Unfortunately, we live in a world where that happens. I don’t want to say much on the subject, but when you’re hoping that someone, no matter who it is, is in pain, it’s very serious. It makes me sad, especially because it’s about someone who helps so many people, who has a big heart. Neymar didn’t deserve that,” said Casemiro.
Even without Neymar, the second most expensive squad in the tournament is aware of their own sporting qualities. “We could talk for days about how important he is to the team. But we have other players like Vinicius Júnior, Richarlison, Raphinha and Gabriel Jesus. We even joke sometimes that we feel sorry for the opponent. If you take out Raphinha, Antony comes in. For Richarlison we have Jesus. We have a wide range.”

Tite reckons Neymar will ‘play at this World Cup’
Right-back Danilo is also out due to a similar injury to Neymar. National coach Tite left open how he actually wants to compensate for the losses of the two regulars against the Swiss. He only revealed that Danilo will be replaced by either veteran Dani Alves or Éder Militão. “I’m very relaxed,” the 61-year-old kept a low profile, looking at his large selection of personnel. However, he assumes that both Neymar and Danilo “will still play in this World Cup. It’s not really my place to say that, but I have reason to believe it is.”
