Alves at 39 to the title?
Brazil coach Tite has announced his 26-man squad for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. The “Seleção” is led by striker Neymar. The attack for the PSG professional has a combined market value of 597 million euros – 120 million of which goes to the account of Real Madrid winger Vinicius Junior, the third most valuable player in the world.
Most of the players in the co-favourite’s squad are under contract with Real (Vinicius Junior, Rodrygo, Éder Militão), Manchester United (Casemiro, Fred, Antony) and Juventus Turin (Bremer, Danilo, Alex Sandro). In the Brazilian Série A, there are three pros that Tite relies on: third goalkeeper Weverton at champions Palmeiras São Paulo, and central midfielder Éverton Ribeiro and forward Pedro at Copa Libertadores champions Flamengo Rio de Janeiro.
Brazil’s World Cup squad from one to 120 million euros market value
There is no player in the squad from the Bundesliga. With Roberto Firmino (Liverpool) and Matheus Cunha (Atlético), Tite eliminated two attackers he had nominated in September. New compared to these games are strikers Gabriel Martinelli and Gabriel Jesus (both Arsenal) and full-backs Alex Sandro and Dani Alves.

The now 39-year-old Alves has been playing for the UNAM Pumas in Mexico since the summer. If he plays at least two games in Qatar, he will then make 127 appearances for the Seleção, level with Roberto Carlos in second place among the Brazilian record players. Cafú is the undisputed leader with 143 games. In addition, he can rank among at least the twelve oldest players in World Cup history.
