Brax relies on trouser fabric from Germany

Brax relies on fabric production in Germany as part of its sustainability efforts for certain men’s trousers.

From August, men’s trousers will be sold with the ‘Re-Local’ label, the fabrics of which are manufactured and finished in Germany by family companies, Brax announced on Wednesday. The trousers, which are “woven and finished under sustainable production conditions”, are made from organic cotton from Turkey. Tencel from Austria is also used. Rapier looms are used for the material-friendly weaving process. Brax did not say where the fabric will be taken to for the next steps in trouser production.

“In order to meet the demands of our customers, our focus is increasingly on the use of resource-saving and sustainable materials without sacrificing our proven qualities and fits. Together with experts from business and science, we are developing new concepts that are gradually being incorporated into our products,” said Brax Managing Director Marc Freyberg.

By the end of the year, 50 percent of the Herford-based clothing supplier’s products should have been awarded the ‘Blue Planet’ sustainability seal. To do this, the pieces must be made from at least 50 percent sustainable materials or using an environmentally friendly production process. In the years that follow, the proportion of products with this label is to be increased so that by 2030 it will be 100 percent.
