Jaimie Vaes impressed the viewers of the Khalid & Sophie program tonight, where she was interviewed by former lawyer Khalid Kasem about her toxic relationship with Jorik Scholten, better known as Lil Kleine. She is happy that the images of the latest abuse have been leaked, because it has finally left her with their relationship.

Ibiza incident

The mental and physical violence by Jorik gradually built up over the years, says Jaimie. A turning point was the abuse in Ibiza, which caused her to get a lot of reactions from women in a similar situation. Although she felt strengthened by this, she did not proceed with her report to the Spanish police.

Why didn’t Jaimie go through with that? “It was almost such a turbulent period as it is now. I still wanted to protect my partner. (…) I don’t think the people who advised me then were one hundred percent with me. I think they were woven into something else. Call it financial, call it… It was decided to save a career, instead of…”

Crisis management

The video after the Ibiza incident was therefore staged, Jaimie now reveals. “We were both guided by crisis management shortly afterwards to record this so it could be a signal to the public not to let it escalate further to the detriment of my ex-boyfriend’s career at the time.”

How do you record such a video? She received a text from Jorik’s management (Nathan Moszkowicz). “Then you get a piece of text that is best to tell. To limit the damage. (…) Then you record a number of films and the best version is distributed. (…) Especially when I look back now, it was not wise.”

stiffened

Jaimie cramps when Jorik gives her a kiss in the video. “Yes, I was very stiff there anyway, because I didn’t support it and I had already reported that. I was ashamed of my friends and family, because I knew: if I’m going to release this… I also got calls from: ‘Jaim, what are you doing?’ It’s pretty embarrassing for me.”

Why did she keep falling back into Jorik’s arms? “At a certain point you stop taking yourself too seriously. You do it out of love and maybe you believe in an illusion, I don’t know. Love makes blind. In addition, I believed that it could be done differently. I thought: if I hand this in, maybe something very beautiful will come back.”

Prinsengracht

Jaimie and Jorik broke up permanently after the assault in February, on the Prinsengracht. The images leaked out via Yvonne Coldeweijer. “If it hadn’t come out so explicitly, I probably wouldn’t have been sitting here at the table and I’d still be in the same situation. (…) I think it was necessary to get out of this situation.”

Jaimie has now filed a report and Jorik released a sorry video from Thailand last week. “When I saw it I was very angry and irritated at first. I have also let a number of people know that I believe this to be the case. In my opinion, this is also crisis management, but this time I was not wrong.”

On the street

When the camera is off, Jorik still behaves very differently, according to Jaimie. “I see a very different attitude from him how he expresses himself and how he now moves towards us. Unpleasant. It’s that I have Kim by my side, because otherwise I think I would have been in a box on the canal a month ago, I think with my child.”

Did he want to evict her with their child? “Absolutely yes.”

Has he apologized to her yet? “New. No nothing. There has been enough room for that from his side several times.”

Is the relationship finally over? “Absolutely, yes. As difficult as that is.”

Show news

Finally, Jaimie shares her disappointment about Shownieuws, where Lil Kleine’s puppets Bram Moszkowicz and Patty Brard sit at the desk. “I still find it very regrettable that certain media platforms are taking sides in my opinion. Well, for example a Shownieuws who also want to ‘correct’ something with information they receive from its side.”

“I don’t know if it’s because they’re woven into something or if it’s just favouritism, but it’s all tough enough. If you are a woman with a broken family on the couch and you receive all kinds of signals that are just so wrong that you almost want to request rectification… (…) It is yet another disappointment.”

All in all, Jaimie has unmasked quite a few parties in twenty minutes. After his sorry film, she portrays Lil Kleine as a shrewd actor, his manager as an immoral grabber and the stars of Shownieuws as heartless ventriloquists. “Strong woman. Well done, Jaim”, Yvonne Coldeweijer responds.
