Braunschweig wins bronze over 50 m backstroke

Ole Braunschweig, seventh at the World Championships, won bronze over 50 m backstroke at the European Swimming Championships in Rome.

The 24-year-old from Berlin only had to give way to the Greek Christou Apostolos (24.36) and the Italian 100m world champion Thomas Ceccon (24.40) in the final in the Foro Italico in 24.68 seconds. It was the fourth medal for the German swimmers.

Previously, Isabel Gose had won silver in the 800m and bronze in the 200m freestyle, and her friend Lukas Märtens had won silver in the 800m.
