Expensive splashing: The record inflation is now also affecting the baths: Brandenburg’s indoor swimming pools and thermal baths increase the admission prices – and lower the temperature.
Huge crowds on the last weekend of the holiday at Potsdam’s Stadtbad BLU. Admission to the 50-meter sports pool still costs EUR 4.90. But in March it rises to EUR 5.90.
“We have higher costs due to inflation and rising wages,” says Stadtwerke spokesman Stefan Klotz. Therefore, the two Potsdam river baths should also become more expensive at the beginning of the season.
Potsdam’s indoor swimming pools had already lowered the water and air temperature from 28 to 26 degrees in the summer and switched off the heated benches at the edge of the pool. Outdoor pools and saunas have been cooled by 5 degrees.
In the Cottbus “Lagune” and in the indoor pool in Frankfurt(Oder) the water is only 26 instead of 28 degrees. But the prices stayed the same there. In the pools of Wittstock and Wittenberge, on the other hand, they rose from 2 to 3 euros per hour – but the water stays warm.
The Naturtherme Templin has so far neither become more expensive nor colder. “As a thermal spa, we sell people warmth, well-being and relaxation,” says spokeswoman Anne Splinter. A drop in temperature would have driven away many guests.
