Brandenburg cancels the 5-day corona isolation obligation

From mid-February, Brandenburgers with a corona infection no longer have to remain in isolation for five days.

The Ministry of Health announced on Tuesday that the obligation to separate for people infected with Sars-CoV-2 would be lifted on February 13.

“Fortunately, the corona situation has eased a lot. In Brandenburg, the three corona warning lights have been completely green for almost two weeks, ”said Health Minister Ursula Nonnemacher (Greens) as a reason.

“Anyone who is sick and has symptoms should stay at home,” the minister clarified. “As with all other infectious diseases, every person infected with the coronavirus should then isolate themselves on their own responsibility.”

The obligation to isolate also ends in Berlin on February 13

The lifting of the obligation to isolate has been coordinated with Berlin, where this measure is also to be lifted by February 13. The Senate Health Administration announced that a corresponding proposal would be submitted to the next Senate session.

Health Senator Ulrike Gote (Greens) also appealed to Berliners to isolate themselves in the event of an infection. “The same applies to the fact that we still recommend wearing a medical mask where many people gather,” she said.

The mandatory isolation for corona infected people in Brandenburg was reduced to five days in May last year, provided someone has no symptoms. There is no quarantine obligation for contact persons. Several federal states had already lifted the isolation requirement for corona infected people in November.

The mask requirement with FFP2 masks in buses and trains of local public transport ends in Berlin and Brandenburg on Thursday.

The mask requirement for visitors in closed rooms of homeless and refugee accommodation in Brandenburg, on the other hand, applies until March 7th.
