Brand letter Westerveld to commissioner about wolf attacks: ‘Organize meeting’

Organize a meeting for the residents of Westerveld about the wolf in the short term and provide text and explanation. The Westerveld municipality makes this appeal in a letter to the province of Drenthe, addressed to deputy Henk Jumelet.

The municipality notes that there have been many wolf attacks in Westerveld recently. “This leads to unrest and sadness and anger among the animal keepers in our municipality. As a college, we are very concerned about the well-being of our residents and the animal welfare of the animals that are attacked,” Westerveld writes. When it comes to wolves, the province is the competent authority and not the municipality.

The settlement of damage after a wolf attack goes through BIJ12, but according to the municipality this is ‘not optimal’. “We urge you to improve this.” In February, the municipality also sent a letter to the province.
