Brain-scanning headphones coming on sale – They promise to reduce stress and increase happiness

Neurable hints that the technology will come to the products of the major headphone manufacturer already this year.

US company Nervable to develop headphones that could read brain signals. About that reported Euronews.

The company’s CEO Ramses Alcaide told Euronews that the silver sensors placed in the ear cushions of the headphones monitor brain activity in the ear area.

– The read brain signals are amplified with the help of artificial intelligence, which can be used to interpret the brain’s core functions, Alcaide stated.

However, the purpose of the headphones is not to monitor what the user is thinking about, but to act as an aid for taking breaks. Neurable aims to solve the problem of fatigue caused by over-performance with the help of headphones.

Increases happiness by 70%

Neurable’s headphones aim to specifically interpret the activity of the front part of the brain. The brain center that tells about concentration is located in their frontal lobe. With the help of information about the ability to concentrate, the headphones are able to visualize the user’s level of concentration and alertness.

– According to our research, timing the breaks correctly reduces stress from work by 20 percent at the end of the day and happiness increases by 70 percent, Alcaide said.

If you don’t see the embed, you can watch it from here.

The headphones can tell the user with a sound signal when it’s worth taking a break from work. However, there is no need to slavishly obey the beep.

According to Alcaide, the headphones could be particularly effective in jobs that require concentration, such as programming. According to research, the number of programming errors increases in the latter half of the working day, when software developers start to feel tired.

European companies have difficulty competing

Neurable’s headphone technology connects the brain to the computer. The technology also has its own name: BCI, which comes from the English language “Brain-computer interface”. However, Neurable’s headphones do not require a microchip to be installed in the brain, which, for example, a technology billionaire does Elon Musk plans for Neuralink.

However, according to Alcaide, the development of technology is associated with a lot of doubts and the resulting fears.

– Many think that we are developing technology to make incredible fighter pilots or something like that. In reality, we are trying to find a way how, for example, a person suffering from neurodegeneration could talk to their therapist, Alcaide stated.

According to him, European companies in particular have difficulties competing with other operators, as technology has strict limitations in Europe.

Presumably, the restrictions will also get tighter in the next few years, as long as the EU completes its upcoming artificial intelligence regulation.

Alcaide reveals that Neurable’s technology will be implemented in the headphones of a major headphone manufacturer already this year. Without revealing the name of the manufacturer, he states that this would be a device similar to the Apple Watch smartwatch with headphones, which would allow the user to monitor the performance of their mind.
