Brad Pitt in skirt causes heated debate in Shownieuws: ‘What a cool!’

Brad Pitt caused a heated debate in Shownieuws yesterday. There was a jubilant reaction to his appearance in a skirt, but not by the feared new expert Victor Vlam.

The German premiere of the film Bullet Train yesterday saw the presence of Brad Pitt, who appeared on the red carpet in a skirt (see below). That’s great, according to Shownieuws expert Anouk Smulders. She thinks it’s fantastic that everyone attracts what he or she wants.

“Let those pants off!”

Anouk finds the fuss about Brad’s clothing incomprehensible. “I find it highly exaggerated that so much is being written about it. It does point to old patterns that we all think it’s ridiculous, because a man should wear pants and a woman…”

Colleague Frits Huffnagel then makes a pretty lewd comment: “Well, in the case of Brad Pitt I would say: leave those pants off!”

‘It’s terrible!’

Victor Vlam then goes all out. “I think it’s really terrible. I think this is why there are a lot of people in the Netherlands who have nothing to do with showbiz. If you go to the market in Deventer and you ask people: ‘What do you think about this?’, I think most people would say: ‘Hey, act normal, this is bizarre!’”

Anouk: “Yes, but that is the pattern.”

Victor: “There is a good reason for this. There is a very good reason for this. A skirt accentuates the fact that you have wide hips. We find that attractive in women. As a man you don’t want to have wide hips, but you want to have wide breasts.”

Absurd

Anouk: “Sorry, but accentuate the hips? It just depends on what kind of skirt you’re wearing. I suggest you do politics, then I do fashion.”

Victor: “No, this is a social issue. I think it’s absurd. This is also such a discussion about the fact that men are not allowed to be real men anymore.”

Frits: “What a cool thing! If I put on a skirt, suddenly I’m not a real man? You don’t feel like a real man wearing a skirt. It’s your problem. Not the men’s problem.”

Anouk: “Break through the patterns and wear what you feel like!”

‘What a cool thing!’

Victor: “You can see it these days. In this society you are no longer allowed to emphasize the differences between men and women. I think that’s actually a shame to be honest. It’s a statement Brad Pitt is trying to make here, which is that there are no differences between men and women. There is indeed! We have to accept and embrace that.”

Frits: “I’d like to wear a skirt once. It doesn’t make me feel less of a man at all. And you may very well decide that you don’t want to wear a skirt, but that you make it a very social problem… Sorry, what a mess!”
