Brad Pitt has renounced alcohol and cigarettes after divorcing Angelina Jolie in 2016, which has given him a new outlook on life. The 58-year-old actor leaves in an interview with GQ know how to make the last chapter in his life ‘meaningful’.
“I am now almost 60 and see the coming years as my last phase. That could take ten, twenty or thirty years, you don’t know that. But what will that period look like and how do I want to organize that time?” said Pitt.
He also says that attending meetings of Alcoholics Anonymous has brought him a lot. “I was part of a great group of men with whom I could be myself completely without fear that things would be leaked to the press. That safety net has been worth gold and I am very grateful for that.”
A cigarette is no longer spent on Pitt either. “Quitting smoking was something big for me: I’m not someone who can smoke two cigarettes a day, I immediately popped a pack. So the only way was to stop everything completely and it makes me feel better than ever.”
In the interview, Pitt says that he has often felt alone during his life. “I grew up alone and that feeling was reinforced when I moved to Los Angeles. Actually, it was only in recent years that I started to realize that I had enough nice and nice people around me all along, but I just didn’t feel that way before. “Looking back on my life, I always struggled with a slight depression, but I suppressed it. Now I have more joy in life and I appreciate music, for example, that makes me happy and calm.”
