There was a thin layer of snow in most places in our province on Sunday evening. The first flakes fell at the end of the afternoon in the west of Brabant. Then it quickly became white and slippery in other places. It is expected that between one and three centimeters of snow will fall.

The snow is moving from the southwest to the northeast of the Netherlands. The first snow fell in the west of our province. But the streets in the rest of Brabant also slowly but surely turned white during the evening.

According to Jaco van Wezel, meteorologist at Weerplaza, most snow falls in the southeast. “This morning we thought that it would mainly be bearable in the west, but it is less serious there. A heavier cloud of precipitation has passed over the east, causing it to turn white there,” the weatherman explains.

“The snow will be gone soon.”

“But we are not talking about a lot of snow. In Brabant it is about three centimeters of snow. Locally, five centimeters can fall, but that varies per location,” says Van Wezel. The KNMI has issued weather code yellow for Sunday. It can become slippery throughout the country due to snowfall.

During the evening the snowflakes will move on again. “It will be dry again at Woensdrecht from half past eight. It will spread from that corner. In the northeast it can snow until half past ten.” It may even thaw a few degrees, causing the layer of snow to melt away again. “The snow will then be gone in no time. That’s because softer air is flowing in this direction.”
