The Berlin Volleys won the three-day Bounce House Cup tournament. In the final in Hildesheim, the German volleyball champions surprisingly won 3-0 (25:15, 25:23, 25:22) against their archrival VfB Friedrichshafen late on Sunday evening.
The outstanding player in the winner was diagonal attacker Marek Sotola. The Czech national player also benefited from his team’s good acceptance and the varied pass from Spaniard Angel Trinidad during his successful actions at the net.
The Bounce House Cup, with the participation of all eight Bundesliga teams, took place for the first time and replaced the previously held Supercup. Third place went to Netzhoppers KW-Bestensee. The Brandenburgers defeated the SVG Lüneburg 3:1 in the “small final”.
Even without middle blocker Anton Brehme, the BR Volleys put on an impressive performance in the final. Friedrichshafen, actually favored against the newly formed Berlin team, never really got the opponent’s energetic attacking game under control.
The capitals dominated the first set at will. But they also kept their composure, overview and order when Friedrichshafen came into play better in the following rounds.
