BR Volleys want to “play in front of their own audience again”

The BR Volleys have a clear goal in mind. “To be able to play in front of our audience again this season is a dream. We will fight for that,” said coach Cedric Enard.

In order to fulfill this dream, however, his team must win the fourth final game for the German championship at VfB Friedrichshafen in Ulm on Wednesday (8 p.m.). Then the playoff series would be balanced 2-2 in best-of-five mode. A fifth game on Saturday in Berlin would clarify the championship question for 2022.

Hope gives the Volleys their 3-0 home win against Friedrichshafen on Saturday. “The game was good for all of us. It helps to get rhythm, self-confidence and lightness back,” said managing director Kaweh Niroomand, concluding: “We have shown that we don’t have to hide from any opponent.”

The final series has long since become a matter of nerves. Twelve sets were played in the previous three games, seven of which ended with a difference of only two points. “The mental aspect then also plays a major role,” said Niroomand.

On Wednesday, the two teams will meet in a competitive game for the ninth time this season. Due to this accumulation of games, personal or tactical surprises in their teams are almost impossible for both coaches.

“It’s more about who can better implement what they set out to do,” said Niroomand. The smarter strategy, the better form on the day and, last but not least, nerves of steel will be decisive.
