The BR Volleys have signed the Finnish national player Jiri Hänninen for the outside receiving position. The 25-year-old signed a one-year contract with the capital club.
This was confirmed by the Association of the German Press Agency on Thursday.
Hänninen is to replace his compatriot Antti Ronkainen, who has moved to Le Plessis-Robinson Volley-Ball in France. After Leon Dervisaj, Daniel Malescha and Estonian Timo Tammemaa, Hänninen is the fourth and probably last newcomer from Berlin for the coming season.
The 1.93 meter tall Finn last played for the Belgian runners-up and Champions League participant Decospan Volley Team Menen. The new Volleys head coach Joel Banks, who is also the coach of the Finnish national team, made a significant contribution to his move to Berlin. Banks considers the newcomer to be a “technically very adept and skilful player who has a good reception and acts smart on serves and receptions”.
