Officers arrested a motorist after she kicked a boy onto a scooter in Renkum. The child, about eight years old, was seriously injured in the accident.
The boy is said to have driven onto the street from an alley on his scooter. The woman could no longer avoid him.
An air ambulance landed in a parking lot near the accident on the corner of Meester van Damweg and Bakkershaag. A trauma doctor got into the ambulance that brought the boy to hospital in Nijmegen with sirens blaring.
Local residents state that the woman did not immediately drive on after the serious accident. She would even have called the emergency services with her own telephone. The woman may have left in a panic after that, local residents say. Police were investigating the intersection until about 4:10 p.m. Then red and white ribbons were removed.
Officers spoke to witnesses at the scene of the accident. Forensic investigations were also carried out. Police found the car involved in the accident near the accident. They were then able to arrest the woman.
