A 36-year-old woman was arrested by the police this morning in connection with the death of a 9-year-old boy in Hardinxveld-Giessendam in the Netherlands. It concerns the victim’s mother. The boy was found dead in a home in the South Holland municipality. The 36-year-old mother is suspected of involvement in his death, the police report.
The police received a report at 8.45 am that something was going on in the house on Prinses Marijkestraat. When emergency services arrived on the scene, they found the boy’s body. Attempts were made to resuscitate him, but to no avail.
His mother also needed medical attention. After this was granted, she was arrested and taken to the police station for questioning. The police are investigating what exactly happened in the home.
Mayor Dirk Heijkoop of Hardinxveld-Giessendam responded to the incident. “I deeply sympathize with the immediate family and loved ones. All attention and care now goes to them. I wish them a lot of strength and courage in dealing with what happened to them.”
