Boy (17) who threatened to ‘shoot dead’ students is still in custody

The boy from Oirschot who was arrested on Saturday because, according to the police, he sent a violent threatening email to students at a school in Bilthoven. The police do not want to say why the 17-year-old suspect was targeting students of this school community, De Werkplaats Kinderbedrijven.

Boy may be arraigned
The relationship between the boy from Oirschot and the school is the subject of investigation, the police said. It is possible that more will be known later this Tuesday when the Public Prosecution Service (OM) has made a decision to bring the boy before him.

Students from De Werkplaats received an email last Tuesday evening, which also contained a photo of a firearm. The sender claimed he would shoot all recipients on July 2. On the advice of the Public Prosecution Service, the police and the municipality of De Bilt, to which Bilthoven falls, the secondary school remained closed on Thursday and Friday.

‘Not really planning anything’
The arrest was announced last Sunday. The police also stated that there was no evidence that the suspect really intended to carry out his threats.

According to the police, there is no longer any threat to the school community as a result of the arrest. That is why classes at the school in Bilthoven have resumed this morning. To cheer up the students, there was a barrel organ at the school building.
