The accident happened around 2.15 am on the Koninklijke Baan in Lombardsijde, close to the Albatros campsite. Further investigation will have to reveal what exactly happened. It is certain that the 17-year-old boy from Dilbeek was hit by a car. How that happened remains to be seen. Emergency services tried to resuscitate the victim, but the teenager, who was staying at the campsite with friends or family, died on the spot.
“It is not clear exactly how the collision happened,” says Patty ‘t Jonck. “A traffic expert and a law doctor were appointed. We are still waiting for their findings.”
