The 15-year-old boy who was shot in Oss on Saturday is a resident of the refugee shelter on Raadhuislaan in that city. Angelo Schuurmans of aid organization Thuis in Oss confirms this after questions about this from Dtv Nieuws.
It was already going around in Oss that it was a boy from the shelter. “The victim indeed lives with us in the shelter,” Schuurmans responded on Monday. According to him, the news that he was shot has ‘deeply affected’ many residents. “We are a close-knit community of residents and volunteers.”
He does not want to speculate about the background of the shooting. “The police are investigating this case. We are waiting to see what comes of it. And of course we sympathize with this boy and his family.”
The boy was shot on Saturday evening in Kardinaal de Jongstraat. He is seriously injured in hospital, the police reported on Monday. A suspect has not yet been identified. The police have started a major investigation and hope for more information and camera images from possible witnesses.
