Boy (15) loses hand after finding heavy fireworks on the street

A 15-year-old boy from Teteringen lost part of his hand on Tuesday evening when he found a piece of fireworks and picked it up. According to the police, it was an already lit Cobra. Another boy was slightly injured.

Things went wrong when the boy and a friend were walking on the street, a police spokesperson said. “They found a Cobra, which had probably already been used. They lit it and before they knew it it went off.” With all its consequences. “That boy is now missing at least four fingers.” The other boy was slightly injured. “It was probably a little further away.”

And so the police warn once again to be careful with found fireworks. “Very dangerous. It is January 2, it has been raining. Then you may think it can’t do any harm. But this Cobra has probably just dried up. There are only losers here.”

The spokesperson once again calls for old fireworks to be properly disposed of immediately. “Throw it in a bucket of water for a few hours and then with the residual waste. And if you find fireworks somewhere, don’t light them. Just don’t do it. This is a very hard lesson.”
