Boy (12) helps police catch bicycle thief: ‘Thanks again dude!’ † Inland

The police visited a suspect of bicycle theft and receiving stolen goods on Saturday, with the intention of arresting him in the act.

Once the police showed up at his door, “the bird had flown,” the police wrote on Facebook. However, the boy knew who to contact the police. He spoke to the police when they were standing in front of the suspect’s home and told them that he had seen the suspect cycling at the supermarket nearby.

And that was indeed where the suspect was, which allowed him to be apprehended. They found him with a stolen bicycle that has since been returned to its rightful owner.

“Without the help of this young man, we probably would not have been able to apprehend the bicycle thief. That calls for a personal thank you,” the police wrote. The boy is handed a real team patch from Police Basic Team Weerijs with which he is proudly in the picture together with an officer. “Normally thanks dude!!”
