The Bovensmilde half marathon has been canceled due to the expected heat. The running race would be held for the 36th time on Saturday afternoon.
“The shorter distances are also canceled,” says Jan Kooistra of Sports Association Friesland. SV Friesland organizes this competition over 21.1 kilometers with shorter distances in the supporting program together with the local ice club Voorwaarts. Kooistra: ,,Temperatures above 30 degrees are expected. I think it is a good and sensible decision.”
Those who still want to run on Saturday despite the heat can go to Hollandscheveld. There is the Singelloop with the longest distance of 10,000 meters. The organization says that this competition will continue.
