Bovenkarspel receives evacuated Dutch people from Sudan in a holiday park

Since today, the municipality of Stede Broec has taken care of five Dutch families who have been evacuated from Sudan. This takes place at the Markermeer holiday park in Bovenkarspel. They will stay there until July 30 at the latest.

So far, about 160 Dutch people have been evacuated from the African country of Sudan, which has been at war for a week. A small part of them have been taken care of since this afternoon at the Markermeer holiday park in Bovenkarspel, where they have been welcomed by the municipality of Stede Broec.

It concerns five families – about 13 parents and 11 children – who will stay there until July 30 at the latest.

The municipality of Stede Broec was approached yesterday by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (BZK) to assist with the arrival. Mayor Ronald Wortelboer: “This group of people has had a difficult time. I hope that they can relax here in the municipality of Stede Broec and look ahead again.”
