Edoardo, who two days ago was discharged from the Careggi hospital in Florence where he was implanted with a defibrillator, entrusts his words to a social network. The first addresses to the public after the cardiac arrest suffered on December 1st: “Hello everyone, in these difficult days I have had the opportunity to think a lot. Even though sharing on social media is not in my nature, I would like to express a thought that has deeply affected. The unpleasant episode that occurred during Fiorentina-Inter showed me, even more than I thought, that football is much more than a match, a championship, or a career. Football is a community of people. linked by it passion, who share moments of joy, emotion, anger, disappointment and suffering”.

Bove writes again: “Precisely in these moments I realize how genuine this sport is, how much, regardless of the results, the competition or the competition, we are all united. United by a bond that, even more so, once created, it strengthens in moments of difficulty, becoming almost indissoluble bond that transmits love and emotions that are difficult to explain.

And again: “I’m talking about it because I’ve experienced it first-hand in recent days: The affection I’ve received, the warmth of the fans, the support from my teammates and opponents, the closeness of the WHOLE world of football has been something that gave me incredible strength and courage. I felt surrounded by a positive energy that allowed me to remain calm, not to feel the loneliness that is often present in this type of difficulty. For this reason, I would like to that we all committed ourselves not to forget the true essence of our own sport, not to let ourselves be overshadowed too much by its commercial side and not to take its authentic spirit for granted. Because despite everything, what happened on Sunday is testimony to the genuine part of football: the one that feeds on true emotions, on personal stories. and of a strong bond between those who play and those who support. Having said that, I am truly grateful to belong to this world and I thank you from the bottom of my heart for the affection and closeness you have shown me! I’m fine and that’s the most important thing! See you soon… On the pitch! Edo”.
