Welsh international
David Brooks returned to training at AFC Bournemouth in early July after successful treatment for lymphoma and has now signed a long-term contract extension. As the “Cherries” announced, the 25-year-old offensive all-rounder is now tied to the club until 2026.
The Premier League promoted had signed the Welsh international in 2019 for 11.3 million euros from Sheffield United. Since then, Brooks has made 90 appearances for Bournemouth (17 goals/12 assists), temporarily increasing his market value to 30 million euros in 2019. Even now he is one of the most valuable professionals in the AFC squad.
“Of course, the last year has been extremely difficult for me, my family and friends, but I am now in a position to resume my career and completing this contract is the icing on the cake,” Brooks said. “I work hard with the excellent coaching staff at AFC Bournemouth and I hope to be back on the pitch soon. In the meantime I will support the boys every step of the way.”
