Bouna Sarr tends to say goodbye

Bouna Sarr has been playing for FC Bayern since October 2020. The right-back came to the German record champions shortly before the end of the transfer and was supposed to compete with Benjamin Pavard.

But the 30-year-old did not get a chance either under the then coach Hansi Flick or under Julian Nagelsmann. That’s why Sarr is now busy saying goodbye.

As the “tz” reports, the freshly crowned Africa Cup winner tends to leave Munich at the end of the current season. The medium names top clubs from Turkey as well as clubs from Italy and France as possible targets.

Venice FC wanted to sign the Senegalese international back in winter, but a double transfer of Sarr and Michael Cuisance never materialized because the 30-year-old was unwilling to leave the Bundesliga leaders in January.

FC Bayern: Bouna Sarr convinces at the Africa Cup

Despite his convincing performances at the Africa Cup of Nations, Bayern coach Julian Nagelsmann was reluctant when it came to regular appearances by the native Frenchman: “Bouna played a lot. That’s valuable for him because he didn’t play much with us. Let’s see if he can assert himself better after his return,” said the 34-year-old coach at the time about his right-back.

Already under the former Bayern and current national coach Hansi Flick, Bouna Sarr was not able to assert himself in the right-back position. Both relied or rely on world champion Benjamin Pavard in the back four.

When the Frenchman dropped out, Niklas Süle was given preference at the back right and even youngster Josip Stanisic has a higher standing at Nagelsmann.

And although the FC Bayern coach would like to have a more offensive right-back, Sarr currently plays no role. That’s why there have recently been rumors that Munich are interested in German national player Ridle Baku.
