Bosz was shocked by PSV in the top match: “Ajax could have scored 4 times”

For the first time this season, PSV conceded two goals in an Eredivisie match. But the damage could have been much higher, Peter Bosz also saw. The trainer was not immediately confident that his team could turn things around, but was full of praise for the substitutions that were able to achieve this.

The fact that PSV was 2-1 behind after 45 minutes made PSV’s trainer irritated. “What we showed was dramatic. Ajax could have scored four times and that was entirely up to us.”

“Normally you can no longer turn a match around,” Bosz continued his story. “We succeeded. The substitutions brought new energy to the team. At the end of the day, there’s just a happy trainer here.”

“At the end of the day, there’s a happy coach here.”

Despite seeing PSV play dramatic football, Bosz remained calm in the locker room. “I actually only said which substitutions we were going to make and that we were going to put some other pressure on Ajax. There’s no need for a thunder speech either. I think everyone knew we weren’t good in the first half.”

Guus Til was one of the substitutes at half time and together with his team turned the game around. “I was already sitting on the couch thinking about solutions. You know you can get in. It is not the first time that I and Ismael Saibari have turned the game around,” he referred to the other substitute at half-time.

“In the end it is a beautiful Sunday, but we did not think that at half time.”

PSV is the big winner of the weekend. Competitor Feyenoord dropped points at FC Twente. “In the end it is a beautiful Sunday, but we did not think that at half time,” both gentlemen had to admit.

And Ajax, which is in last place in the Eredivisie. Does that make the afternoon extra beautiful? “No, actually, not,” Til was honest. “Ajax simply has to compete for the title. I don’t like it at all that things are going badly for them. Hopefully they will find their way up.”
