Germany’s best basketball player, Satou Sabally, believes in an NBA title for the Boston Celtics with Daniel Theis, despite her sympathies for the Golden State Warriors.

“It would be really cool if Golden State wins, but I think the Celtics should win and will win because they just bring something new. They’re playing hammer right now,” said WNBA professional Sabally of the German Press Agency.

“I also believe that Golden State’s experience could still be a problem for the Celtics. Nevertheless, it would be really cool if Daniel Theis could hold up another trophy for German basketball after Dirk Nowitzki.”

After three games in the NBA Finals, the Boston Celtics lead 2-1 and need two more wins to claim their 18th title. This would put the Celtics ahead of the Los Angeles Lakers alone as record champions in the best basketball league in the world. After Dirk Nowitzki, Theis would be only the second German to win the NBA championship. Game four is on Saturday morning (03:00 CEST).

Commenting on her liking for the Warriors, Sabally, who is in her third season in the women’s professional league WNBA, said, “They play really well together and they have no egos on the field, that’s just really good. Curry has become a symbol of basketball, it would be just a shame if he lost the finals, Draymond Green too.” Should Golden State lose, “it would be a shame for them, but I still think the Celtics are better.” The 30-year-old Theis is also “a great guy”.
