The hockey players of Den Bosch took the 23rd national title on Thursday afternoon. SCHC was defeated in an exciting final after shoot-outs. It is the first time that the Bossche hockey women won the title, cup and Euro Hockey League in one season.
SCHC was already in the final for the national championship five times before, including the past three years. The team from Bilthoven has never won the title. How large is the difference with HC ‘s-Hertogenbosch that has been supreme for years for women. In 25 finals, the Bosschenaren won the title 22 times.
Both teams played the first game of the final on Saturday and with the 1-1 draw it became clear that they hardly avoid each other. The decisive return in Den Bosch on Thursday afternoon became another match between two strong teams that are almost equivalent.
It was the home team that took the lead in the first quarter due to a penalty corner from Rosa Fernig from Tilburg. SCHC had several big chances, but scoring didn’t. For example, Fernig took a ball off the line and the post prevented a goal from Yibbi Jansen from Gemonde.
Equalizer
In the second quarter again an attacking SCHC that went hunting to the 1-1. Yet it was first Joosje Burg from Veghel, who left a big chance on the 2-0. In the 26th minute the earned equalizer fell. Captain Pien Sanders first prevented the 1-1 with a feline reflex, but in the rebound it was Elzemiek Zandee who let the guests cheer.

SCHC showed itself the better team in the third quarter, without scoring. There was no goal in the last quarter, so that the game ended in 1-1 just like Saturday. To point out a winner, it was on shoot-outs. The Bosschenaren use it better, making it a party in the capital of Brabant.
