The Watson 3 was taken out of service in 1980 and threatened to be lost, but was saved from the demolition in the nick of time. In the meantime, the ship is gradually getting its old glory back, thanks in part to the efforts of dozens of Ostend volunteers.
Princess Astrid expressed her admiration for the work and commitment of the team. The restoration of this maritime pride of the North Sea is therefore again one step closer to the rebirth of a piece of West-Flemish heritage.
