The Metzingen brand Boss, which belongs to the clothing group Hugo Boss, is collaborating with Phipps. The collection celebrates “the brands’ shared appreciation for craftsmanship, quality and sustainability,” Hugo Boss said on Wednesday.

Colorful pieces are complemented with tie-dye and prints. Sayings like "Don’t Cross the Boss" and a shared logo made up of the two names and an eagle complete the collection.

The collection looks atypical for Boss’s otherwise reserved style. The label founded by Spencer Phipps, on the other hand, is known for its playful creations. The Parisian brand recycles vintage pieces and deadstock materials for its collections. “More responsible materials” and fabric leftovers from the Boss archive are used for the collaboration with Boss.

“I am incredibly proud of this collaboration", says Marco Falcioni, Senior Vice President Creative Direction at Hugo Boss. “Our values match very well – even if our aesthetics are different. As brands, we both want to pave a more sustainable path in an industry that still produces too much waste."

It’s also the first time Boss has worked with an outside fashion designer, according to Falcioni, who has only been active as creative director at Hugo Boss since early March and has played a key role in the company’s creative reform.

Since Daniel Grieder took over the management of Hugo Boss last June, the group has been in a state of upheaval and is breaking new ground. Boss is collaborating with the US sports brand Russell Athletic and bringing stars such as the rapper Future and Khaby Lame, who is known for his videos on the social media platform Tiktok, into his campaigns.
