Bösel Lost to Ramirez: Knockout in Round 4 , Boxing | Light Heavyweight – MDR – Regional

The dream of a big world championship fight in the WBA association has burst for light heavyweight boxer Dominic Bösel. The 32-year-old from Freyburg lost the eliminator in Ontario (California) against the clearly favored Mexican Gilberto “Zurdo” Ramirez by knockout in the fourth round. “I got into the fight badly. The first blow goes to the liver, it twitched. That took my breath away. I’ve never experienced that before,” said the German.

Instead of Bösel, Ramirez became the mandatory challenger to champion Dmitri Biwol, who just a week ago defeated Mexican superstar Saul “Canelo” Alvarez. Bösel, world champion of the small association IBO, had declared in the run-up to the duel with Ramirez: “Either I’ll win the fight or I’ll be knocked out”.

Right hook ends Bösel dream

Bösel ultimately had no chance in a one-sided fight against Ramirez, who had dethroned Artur Abraham as a super middleweight in 2016. In the break before the fourth round, the ring doctor wanted to stop the fight because Bösel, in his opinion, seemed dazed. “Take care of yourself,” was the advice from Bösel coach Georg Bramowski, but it didn’t help. When Bösel went down after a right hook 1:28 minutes before the end of the round, the referee broke off immediately. Bramowski said after the duel: “After such a fight you are sad and disappointed. Dominic tried and got out of the fight unscathed. He tried, the other one was just better.”

The Mexican extended his impressive record to 44 victories (30 by knock-out) in 44 fights, for Bösel it was his third defeat in what was probably his toughest test to date in the 35th professional fight.
