After eight years without a voice, without getting on a musical stage, Miguel Bosé has sung again in the final installment of ‘Cover night’ (TVE-1). He has chosen the theme ‘With the peace of the mountains, I will love you’, according to him, “the most beautiful song in the world”.
The presenter of the program, Ruth Lorenzo, excited, said: “We are living something historic!”. The other members of the jury shuddered. The public applauded. And Bosé, dressed in white, like a Bedouin from the desert tribes, or perhaps like a child approaching the altar of his first communion, began the ‘I’ll love you’ with a surprisingly clear voice. He sang with that delicate style that the French call ‘diseur’, that is, more than singing it at the top of his lungs, that subtle variant of ‘saying it’.

I agree with Ruth Lorenzo when she warned that Bosé’s return to the stage, to make music, is a musical event of remarkable magnitude.. However, the audience he obtained was very weak. An 8% share of the screen. And the average of the 12 episodes of ‘Cover night’ broadcast, even worse: 6.9%, a sad figure. It is possible that if we understand TV as a continuous impact, which is what it is now, and if Bosé instead of singing had launched a ‘speech’ about the non-existence of the covid, the audience would have risen. It is also a very sad consideration. But I also believe that this very weak record is the consequence of so many years of a disoriented and aimless TVE. People, contrary to what happened years ago, have gotten used to ignoring button 1 on the remote control.
The same thing happens to ‘Doctor Garcia’s patients’. This series is well made, well interpreted, and its argument helps us to know the history of the country. Dr. Guillermo, a republican, now lives in hiding, with a false identity, in a Madrid full of purges and ‘walks’ carried out by the victors, the Francoist nationals. World War II has ended and Franco’s Spain is transformed into a refuge for important Nazis who arrive with suitcases full of infamous loot. But the screen share of the last episode issued was: 4.8%. It is very unfair. This series does not deserve such deafness and lack of interest. ‘The doctor’s patients’ instead of receiving momentum they sink. Bosé recovers his voice and almost no one listens to him. oh! TVE continues in its long loop of tremendous hoarseness.
