Borussia wins – Hertha coach Korkut before the end

This defeat is too much! Seven days after the desolate 1: 4 home defeat against Frankfurt, there is the next clear defeat for Hertha in the relegation battle.

In Gladbach, the Berliners lose in the “Entlassico” after another poor performance with 0: 2 and do not show the hoped-for reaction. The end of coach Tayfun Korkut (47) should thus be sealed.

Since taking over after the 13th matchday at the end of November, he has only scored nine points in 13 games (points average 0.69) with 13:33 goals – the worst record of any Bundesliga club in this period.

Due to Stuttgart’s draw at Hertha rival Union, Hertha slipped to the penultimate place in the table even before their match.

Hertha boss Fredi Bobic (50) before the game: “You only have to look at the table, we have to score. We will then see what consequences and consequences that will have.”

From the start, Gladbach was the better team in front of 30,675 spectators. Hertha defends passionately. Almost nothing happens forward.

The goal falls in the 22nd minute: Thuram appears on the right in the Hertha penalty area and falls to the ground. First, the referee lets Badstübner continue, after a video referee check, he gives the penalty due. Completely unnecessarily, Kempf goes down to the tackle and hits the Gladbach offensive star clearly. Plea safely transforms into the middle.

Hertha owed a penalty in four of the last five Bundesliga games! And again Marc Oliver Kempf is the culprit: The winter newcomer caused the second penalty in his fourth Bundesliga game for Hertha. He also saw the smooth red card against Leipzig.

But there is no frustration on the bench – on the contrary!

The TV cameras caught away players Dedryck Boyata (31, actually captain) and Márton Dárdai (20) laughing heartily despite being behind. Incomprehensible, actually there is not much to laugh for the players at the moment.

Unlike now at Gladbach, where coach Adi Hütter (52) is represented by his assistant coach Christian Peintinger (54) because of a corona infection. At the latest, the 2-0 by DFB star Matthias Ginter (60th) makes the Borussen-Park cheer. It is the defender’s first goal, who will leave Borussia in the summer, since April 2021.

Gladbach sporting director Roland Virkus before the game: “We made the team responsible, they have to deliver today.” She did.
