Borussia Mönchengladbach’s sports manager Roland Virkus pushes a stop to a change of defensive team Nico Elvedi (28) and Ko ItaKura (28)-at least to a direct competitor. There were no such discussions last year. It is also just part of our story that players sometimes become too good for us. Then switch to a big club, we can tackle something new with the income – and that can also make you proud. ”
The Japanese ItaCura is contractually bound until 2026, the Swiss long -running favorite Elvedi (since 2015 in the club) until 2027. “What really hurt would be if they were to come together that we see with us at eye level. But I can promise: that won’t happen, ”Virkus clarified. Apparently the 58-year-old understands that professionals like the two deal with other options.
“Of course we also do everything to convince you to stay with us. But if we are honest: What is the motivation of professionals to be with us? On the one hand, of course, to be successful here. But also that you may also be able to recommend yourself for even bigger clubs, ”said Virkus. The Gladbach squad value is 139.4 million euros-Bundesliga rank ten. The most valuable players in the foal contingent are ItaCura and home-grown Rocco Reitz (22) with EUR 15 million each.
