Borussia Mönchengladbach: Lars Stindl has several options – KSC hopes

Future open from summer

Second division club Karlsruher SC is still hoping for a return from homegrown Lars Stindl, but in their efforts to win the eleven-time national player they are not expecting a quick result. “We are interested in him and we are still in contact with Lars and his advisor, but we are not expecting a short-term decision,” said Michael Becker, managing director of the “Deutsche Presse-Agentur”. The player himself stated that he had several options for the summer.

“It would be great to get such a role model back in the wildlife park. Above all, we also see Lars’ sporting value,” Becker continued. “Financially he would have to accommodate us, of course, that’s clear. There is also a framework in which this change would be economically viable.” Stindl announced on Wednesday that he would be leaving Bundesliga club Borussia Mönchengladbach in the summer after a total of eight years and wanting to return to his homeland. The 34-year-old left it open whether he would continue his career or end it.

The KSC, in whose youth he once played and in whose jersey he also celebrated his professional debut, had recently expressed his interest in the offensive man several times. Should Stindl return to the Badeners, the club would probably want to retain him in another capacity in the future.

Stindl on reactions to the Gladbach exit: “Boys respect the decision”

Meanwhile, Stindl gave the day after his Gladbach end was announced in the “Picture”-Zeitung Insights into his emotional world: “The last few days have been emotional for me because I have told one or the other with whom you have played or worked together for a long time. Of course, one or the other wanted me to hang on for another year. The guys respect the decision and were able to understand my reasons. I have the feeling, although not everyone has expressed it that way, that they were happy for me.”

Stindl also has a lot planned before he leaves. “There are still a lot of points to be awarded and we want to achieve the best possible placement. We have to show our performance and not let the difficult moments that we had against Wolfsburg drive us crazy. There have been a lot of close games in the last few weeks that we then lost, like in Leipzig. We have to pull these moments back to our side,” he said, referring to the remaining seven games of the Bundesliga season.

When specifically asked about his future and a possible KSC comeback, he stated: “There is one or the other option. But I haven’t made a decision yet. I have already explored the possibilities that exist.”
