Mönchengladbach (AP) – Borussia Mönchengladbach’s goalkeeper Yann Sommer has defended coach Adi Hütter despite the weak first half of the season.
“We really enjoy working with him. And yes, I am of the opinion that he has really arrived with us. We are going through this situation with him,” said Sommer to the magazine “Sport Bild”.
The big problem for Borussia is the lack of consistency. “That has been with us for a year or two. We don’t manage to score points on a bad day anyway. Then we’re not even mediocre, then we’re just too bad,” complained the 33-year-old. Before the start of the second half of the season in Munich on Friday, Borussia is only in 14th place with 19 points.
“In our situation it is important that everyone pushes their egos backwards and that we work together to make the second half of the season better,” said the Swiss, whose contract expires in 2023. He is currently not worried about an extension, it is still a long way off. The club currently has other worries because of the corona situation.
