Junior international of Belgium
Borussia Mönchengladbach has given U19 talent Ibrahim Digberekou (18) a professional contract. The club announced this on Thursday, but did not provide any information on the term. Originally, the working paper of the youngster, who has been with the club since the U11s, would have expired after this season. Digberekou is seeded in coach Alexander Ende’s team and has played 16 games (one assist).
“We are very happy that despite many other offers, Ibo has decided to continue on the common path with us and to commit to Borussia in the long term,” said youth boss Mirko Sandmöller. The Belgian U18 national player is “a very fine character and, as a central defender, has outstanding skills, especially in tackles. Now it’s up to both us and him to further develop the existing qualities in order to prepare him for higher tasks.” The player himself said: “Of course it’s my dream to become a professional here. In the coming period I have to keep working hard on myself in order to be able to achieve my big goal in the future.”
