After gala against TSG
Coach Adi Hütter is leaving Borussia Mönchengladbach after just one season. This was announced by the Austrian, who only joined the Foals at the start of the 2021/22 season, after the last day of the game against TSG Hoffenheim (5-1). The coach and the club would “go their separate ways by mutual agreement,” he told the TV channel “Sky” on Saturday. Shortly thereafter, the club also announced the separation.
“After many intensive, good and respectful discussions, we mutually agreed to the decision to go our separate ways. It’s a pity and a lot of melancholy because I felt very comfortable here, but unfortunately we didn’t achieve what we all imagined in terms of sport. I can only thank the club for their openness, honesty and clarity,” said Hütter, whose contract originally expired in 2024.
The 52-year-old moved from Eintracht Frankfurt to Gladbach last summer with an exit clause of 7.5 million euros and was the most expensive coach transfer in the Bundesliga before Julian Nagelsmann moved from RB Leipzig to FC Bayern.

Adi Hütter at Borussia Mönchengladbach: Only 12 wins in 37 games
Hütter fell short of expectations with Gladbach and missed out on participating in the international competition. The “foals” ended up in tenth place in the league and also failed in the DFB Cup in the round of 16 at Hannover 96. Hütter was only able to win twelve of 37 games with his team, he scored an average of 1.38 points, which was his five predecessors outbid.
“We agree that this decision is the right one for both sides,” Gladbach sporting director Roland Virkus is quoted as saying in a club statement. “Our task now is to draw the conclusions from the processing of the season and to initiate the appropriate measures in order to start preparing for the new season in a new constellation at the end of June.” Recently reported “Bild” and “Sport Bild” that Gladbach is exploring the coaching market for a possible successor. There are even said to have been talks with a potential candidate or his advisor. It is not known exactly who it is.
