Berlin (dpa) – Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund wants to talk about the future of star striker Erling Haaland in the coming week, according to a report in the “Bild” newspaper.
A first meeting is planned with the 21-year-old striker from Norway, his father Alf-Inge Haaland and advisor Mino Raiola. BVB would like to have clarity on this matter by “the end of February at the latest,” the newspaper wrote on Tuesday without citing the source.
BVB managing director Hans-Joachim Watzke had recently categorically rejected a move from Haaland this winter. “No, that is impossible,” said Watzke to the news magazine “Der Spiegel”. “Who gives up one of the best strikers in Europe during the winter break if they don’t have to? Borussia Dortmund is still represented in three competitions – and in those we want to compete with the best possible team,” said Watzke.
Haaland is under contract with BVB until 2024, but can leave the Revierclub this summer with an exit clause for allegedly 75 million euros. Real Madrid, FC Barcelona and FC Chelsea were recently traded as interested parties.
