Armin Reutershahn is Borussia Dortmund’s new assistant coach. The 62-year-old succeeds Peter Hermann at the Bundesliga soccer club.
The 70-year-old Peter Hermann had surprisingly resigned on December 7th for health reasons. As BVB announced on Thursday (December 29, 2022), head coach Edin Terzic’s new assistant signed “a contract until the end of the current season for the time being”.
“Armin Reutershahn is a renowned, very experienced football expert. We are convinced that his skills and experience will enrich our coaching team and help us achieve our goals for the season,” said BVB sporting director Sebastian Kehl.
Years of experience
More than 30 years of experience in professional football should have been the deciding factor for Reutershahn, who is therefore considered the ideal assistant for the still young Terzic (40). Reutershahn, who was born in Duisburg, worked as an assistant to well-known football coaches such as Friedhelm Funkel, Dieter Hecking, Huub Stevens, Armin Veh, Julian Nagelsmann, Niko Kovac and most recently Adi Hütter at Eintracht Frankfurt and Borussia Mönchengladbach.
“Borussia Dortmund stands for football tradition and enormous enthusiasm. I’m really looking forward to BVB, working with head coach Edin Terzic and I’m sure that we’ll be talking about a successful season at the end of the season,” said Reutershahn.
His work begins at the start of training on January 2nd. A few days later, the sixth in the Bundesliga starts the week-long training camp in Marbella.
